Frequently asked questions
Find a clear answer
01Is applying free of charge?
Yes. No application fee is charged for submitting an initial SURMAI–SURAMYA Funds support request.
02How much assistance can I request?
Direct Funds considers eligible requests from ₹1,000 to ₹10,000 in total, including the estimated value of both financial and in-kind assistance when combined. Approval and the final amount depend on review and available resources.
03What if my need exceeds ₹10,000?
Use the separate SUPANSHA Crowdfunding application for needs above ₹10,000. Crowdfunding has its own assessment and approval process.
04Can I ask for materials instead of money?
Yes. Financial assistance, in-kind assistance (goods or services), or a combination may be considered as appropriate to the need.
05Who can apply?
Eligible individuals, families, groups and institutions may submit an initial request. SDF assesses the beneficiary, purpose, documents and circumstances before any decision.
06Does submitting a form guarantee financial help?
No. A submitted form is only a request for consideration. Every case is subject to eligibility, verification where required, approval and availability of resources.
07What needs may be considered?
Healthcare, learning, livelihood essentials, disability and elder support, emergencies and eligible community or humanitarian needs are examples. Each case is assessed on its merits.
08Where do I submit my application?
Use the Apply for Support link on this website. It opens the official SDF initial application at supansha.org/application/apply-for-surmai-suramya-funds.
09Why is the initial form short?
The first form captures core information. Additional case details and supporting documents are completed later in the SDF Dashboard, avoiding a duplicate long public form.
10How is my application tracked?
Detailed case follow-up, verification requests and decisions are intended to be managed through the authorised SDF Dashboard. The public information portal does not independently confirm application status.
11What documents will I need?
Documents depend on the case. During assessment, SDF may request identity and beneficiary information, bills or estimates, proof of circumstances and other relevant evidence.
12Will my personal story be publicly displayed?
Sensitive information is protected. Public reporting, if appropriate and consented to, should respect privacy, dignity and safety.
13Is there a fixed approval timeline?
No fixed approval timeline is promised. The time needed depends on the type of need, information supplied, verification and availability of resources.
